New Turf for One of America's Great Football Stadiums

One of America’s most beloved college football stadiums heads into 2017 with the latest in artificial turf technology.

This past year the University of Toledo Rockets athletic program announced it chose FieldTurf to replace the surface at the Glass Bowl, joining hundreds of notable college athletic programs across the country who’ve trusted FieldTurf.

“We are very pleased that we will have an outstanding new FieldTurf surface ready for the 2016 season," Mike O’Brien, VP & Athletic Director, University of Toledo said in the press release. "Our new field will help the Glass Bowl maintain its reputation as one of the truly outstanding college football stadiums in the country.”

Head coach Jason Candle, whose team went 5-1 on their home turf and finished with a 9-4 record in 2016, said his players were looking forward to competing on the new field.

“Any time you can make improvements to your stadium, it's good for the program,” Candle said. “Our players are excited about playing on a new FieldTurf surface.”

The new field will showcase FieldTurf’s Revolution 360 system, replacing the original surface, which was installed in 2008.

REVOLUTION 360: A WINNING FIELD FOR A WINNING PROGRAM

The Toledo Rockets know a winner when they see one; the team has won at least nine games, five of the past six seasons.

Revolution 360 was a logical choice for a program founded on excellence. As FieldTurf’s premier turf system, it stands above the competition in durability, quality and performance.

Named after the concept of completeness, Revolution 360 is the industry’s first fiber to have achieved a score of 83 on the Fiber Performance Index (FPI). Introduced to the marketplace by Labosport – a leading laboratory dedicated to sports surfaces and equipment – as part of the latest addition to its Certification Program, Labosport’s FPI establishes the ultimate fiber ‘index’ – the rating of an artificial turf fiber, to help prospective turf buyers understand and weigh the individual qualities of a turf fiber.

FieldTurf’s Revolution 360 turf system is also the only one in the industry to score perfect 10’s in the rigorous Lisport test at Penn State University’s Center for Sports Surface Research. Fibers from the turf showed no signs of failure after 150,000 testing cycles.
