FieldTurf Coming to Great Falls’ Century-Old Stadium

Montana’s City of Great Falls has selected FieldTurf to install a brand new artificial turf surface at Memorial Stadium. The nearly 100 year-old stadium, which is home to the Great Falls High Bison and C.M. Russell High Rustler football teams, will be resurfaced with a brand new FieldTurf XT surface in time for the upcoming season.

Memorial Stadium was inaugurated in 1930 and has had grass ever since. Nearly 90 years later, Great Falls’ historic stadium is undergoing a facelift, after its residents have largely voted in favor of the project this past October.

Performance and a proven track-record were determining factors in the selection of Great Falls’ Memorial Stadium’s new synthetic turf surface. FieldTurf’s Montana references therefore solidified the city’s decision in choosing FieldTurf.

“(FieldTurf) is the same as the (Montana State University) Bobcats and the (University of Montana) Grizzlies have,” said Gary DeGooyer, athletic director for Great Falls Public Schools. “It’s also the same, I believe, as they have at (Rocky Mountain College)..."

With its brand new FieldTurf XT field, Great Falls will join an impressive list of current users, of which features University of Arizona, University of Notre Dame - Guglielmino Athletics Complex, Binghamton University and several other notable NCAA Division I, programs. It is also the artificial turf surface of choice of hundreds of high schools, colleges and universities across the U.S.
