CORE Arrives at Ottawa's Stadium at TD Place

The Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group has recently announced a major overhaul to Ottawa’s centrally located Stadium at TD Place. Officials have opted to replace the current field with FieldTurf CORE, the company’s leading system.

The stadium is home to the Ottawa REDBLACKS of the Canadian Football League and Atlético Ottawa of the Canadian Premier League. The new CORE field will be certified FIFA Quality Pro (the governing body’s highest certification) and certified World Rugby.

“This is great news for all athletes that will compete on the field at TD Place and for the fans that will watch them perform,” said Mark Goudie, OSEG’s CEO. “It also heightens our ability to bring major national and international sporting events to Ottawa and attract a wider range of fans to TD Place.”

Built from FieldTurf’s 20+ years of industry-leading innovation and unmatched expertise, CORE, the first multi-layer dual-polymer fiber ever, rewrites the playbook for sports turf, reinvents the playing field, and redefines the player experience. Engineered for elite level facilities, CORE is designed to deliver a more realistic, textured, grass-like shape with optimal durability and resiliency.

CORE’s performance and safety is backed by multiple independent certified sources. Labosport, a global leader in sport surface certification, tested CORE using the rigorous Fiber Performance Index — which measures durability, resilience and softness. The surface emerged with Labosport’s highest-ever Fiber Performance Index score of 90. The system was also tested to 200,000 cycles on the fiber wear test by Penn State’s Center for Sports Surface Research. Unlike imitation blended polymer fibers, CORE backs its performance with results.

CORE is the trusted surface of renowned facilities like Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Yale Bowl, Providence Park – Portland Timber, Edmonton Soccer Dome and Upper Canada College to name a few.

“We’re proud and excited to continue to be the trusted surface of The Stadium at TD Place” said Eric Daliere, FieldTurf President. “It’s a privilege to partner with those that share our dedication to excellence and unwavering desire for quality. The city of Ottawa will continue to be home one of Canada’s leading venues.

Created in Montreal, FieldTurf is a global Canadian success story, now regarded as one of the most important technical innovations in modern field sports. With installations in all ten provinces, totaling over 400 nationwide, FieldTurf is the turf of choice in Canada.

FieldTurf is home to 6 of the 9 CFL teams (Saskatchewan, Calgary, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Hamilton and Montreal), 6 of the 8 Canadian Premier League franchises, Toronto Wolfpack RLFC, Rugby Canada’s National Training Center and numerous elite universities and colleges.

When it comes to artificial turf sports fields, FieldTurf is the most trusted brand in the industry. Whether it’s football, soccer, baseball or any other sport, FieldTurf fields provide athletes with the safety and performance they need to perform at their best, while giving field owners the durability they want to maximize the value of their investment. FieldTurf is a world leader in artificial turf with over 20,000 installations worldwide.
