Elite List of Teams includes #1 Wake Forest as Road to Men’s College World Series Begins
The 2023 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament bracket was announced this week and many of the teams competing trust FieldTurf artificial turf on their home field. These teams represent 10 regionals, including the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in Winston-Salem. In addition to being the regional host, Wake Forest is also the ACC regular season champion and #1 overall seed.
The list of FieldTurf schools includes many of the nation’s best, with 11 of the teams having claimed either regular-season or end-of-year tournament championships (i.e., Central Connecticut State, Indiana State, Maine, Maryland, Oregon, Penn, Texas, UNC Charlotte, Wake Forest, Wright State, and Xavier).
Wake Forest is a leading contender to advance through regional play, which begins on June 2nd, with the super regionals taking place one week later, and compete in the culminating Men’s College World Series (MCWS) starting on June 16th.
Competing for the biggest prize in college baseball, many of the schools that we collaborate with have installed our FieldTurf DoublePlay series, an artificial turf baseball system designed to replicate the best ballparks in America. To develop FieldTurf DoublePlay, released in 2018, our team analyzed ball-surface interaction, speed and consistency on a variety of systems and emulated the best results.
Below is a list of the FieldTurf teams competing in the NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament.
- Winston-Salem Regional: Wake Forest, Maryland and Northeastern
- Gainesville Regional: Texas Tech
- Columbia Regional: Central Connecticut State
- Terre Haute Regional: Indiana State, North Carolina, and Wright State
- Clemson Regional: Tennessee and UNC Charlotte
- Auburn Regional: Southern Miss and Penn
- Baton Rouge Regional: Oregon State
- Nashville Regional: Oregon and Xavier
- Charlottesville Regional: Army West Point
- Coral Gables Regional: Maine and Texas
With FieldTurf teams present across the 2023 NCAA bracket, we look forward to cheering on some of our favorite squads over the next two weeks, with all roads leading to the MCWS kicking off on June 16th in Omaha, Nebraska.
WHY FIELDTURF DOUBLEPLAY?
Here are key reasons why baseball should be played on artificial turf:
Over a 10-year period, the cost per hour of synthetic turf is less expensive than natural grass. Per a report prepared by Atlanta-based planning, engineering, and landscape architecture firm Eberly & Associates for Woodward Academy.
True playability and predictability. The FieldTurf DoublePlay Series was engineered to consistently perform like a premier grass field. No more guesswork.
Reduced maintenance and less abrasion.
Fewer rainouts and increased practice and play time. FieldTurf DoublePlay is designed for all-weather playability, allowing programs to start their season earlier and finish later.
