Miners’ Sun Bowl stadium to be replaced with FieldTurf Classic HD CoolPlay; new FieldTurf CoolPlay fields also slated for Glory Road practice field and University Field.
EL PASO, TX (May 11, 2015) – The University of Texas at El Paso have announced that the 5-year old artificial turf surface at Sun Bowl stadium will be upgraded to FieldTurf Classic HD CoolPlay, and that the natural grass fields at Glory Road practice field and University Field will respectively be converted to FieldTurf Classic HD CoolPlay and FieldTurf Revolution CoolPlay.
“FieldTurf is a global leader in artificial turf with more than 10,000 fields worldwide,” said UTEP Director of Athletics Bob Stull. “We’re excited about entering into a new agreement with FieldTurf that will benefit our coaches and student-athletes immensely while enhancing our first-class facilities.”
“We are extremely excited to have a new playing surface in the Sun Bowl that will be safe for players and opponents,” said UTEP football coach Sean Kugler. “We’re also ecstatic about having the same exact playing surface on our practice facility at Glory Road.”
“UTEP Soccer will now have one of the best artificial grass playing surfaces in the country,” said UTEP soccer coach Kevin Cross. “On top of that, the Cool Play turf will not increase the field temperature. I cannot wait to play our first game this fall!”
