After over 12-years of usage, the University of Maine has decided that it was the right time to replace the aged FieldTurf field at Morse Field at Alfond Stadium with a new FieldTurf surface. The field removal has already started and the new installation is planned to be finalized this summer.
“Our whole program is excited for the turf installation and getting out [on it] by the first week of July,” said Nick Charlton, Head Football Coach, University of Maine - via bangordailynews.com. “This shows the great commitment to our team from the university while also making a dramatic impact on our current players and in recruiting.”
Officials opted for FieldTurf’s Vertex CORE system for their new artificial turf field. The new surface is the first step in a massive venue upgrade made possible by a $90 million gift from the Harold Alfond Foundation.
FieldTurf Vertex CORE was designed to deliver the perfect combination of performance and beauty. Equipped with two legendary FieldTurf fibers, the Classic HD slit-film fiber and the CORE monofilament super fiber, the system delivers leading agility, durability and aesthetics. Vertex CORE is a demonstration of FieldTurf’s unwavering dedication to quality and strive to Change The Game.
“We’re thrilled to continue our relationship with the University of Maine” said Eric Daliere, President – Tarkett North America & Tarkett Sports. “For our team, there is no greater feeling than to be chosen to replace an existing FieldTurf surface.”
