Barrington High School Trusts in FieldTurf Yet Again

After eleven years of play on FieldTurf, Barrington High School decided it was the right time to replace the existing surface at Barrington Community Stadium. The field is home to the school’s football, soccer, and lacrosse programs as well as physical education classes and marching band practice. The facility truly serves as the athletic epicenter for the community.

Considering the high volume of sports and events, proven durability and safety were key priorities in the decision making process for Barrington Community Unit School District 220 officials.

After research and comparison, the decision was made to stay with FieldTurf and replace the surface with the Vertex Prime system. Officials voiced satisfaction with their experience and quality of the first FieldTurf field which outlasted it’s expect lifecycle, despite the facilities heavy-use.

"The district is pleased to have its new field installed, and we are happy with the look and performance of it. The installation team did an excellent job, and were helpful and supportive throughout the project.” Said David Bein, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, CSBO

Barrington opted for FieldTurf Vertex Prime. The system is comprised of specially designed slit-film fibers and high performance ridged monofilament fibers. The fibrillation process of the slit-film component allows for proper infill encapsulation while the monofilament fibers facilitate grass-like ball roll. Both fibers are tufted together in the same stitch for a superior aesthetic appearance.

Vertex Prime is the trusted surface of over 200 installations and showcased by the University of Harvard and the Univeristy of Yale.

The Barrington Broncos Football team were the first to play on the new field. They started the season on their new FieldTurf with back to back wins. Go Broncos!
