FieldTurf & Mammoth Sports Construction Partner to Install New Vertex CORE System & FieldTurf Genius at Boone Pickens Stadium.

Victors of the 2022 PlayStation Fiesta Bowl, Oklahoma State University, will kick off its 2022 season on a new FieldTurf surface at Boone Pickens Stadium. Ranked 12th on ESPN’s College Football Associated Press Poll Preseason Rankings the Cowboys are poised for another successful campaign this coming season.

The new synthetic turf field at Boone Pickens Stadium will feature FieldTurf’s leading Vertex CORE system. The product was designed to deliver the perfect combination of performance and beauty. Equipped with two legendary FieldTurf fibers, the Classic HD slit-film fiber and the CORE monofilament super fiber, the system delivers leading agility, durability, and aesthetics. Vertex CORE demonstrates FieldTurf’s unwavering dedication to quality and strive to Change The Game.

“It’s no secret that FieldTurf is the leading choice for top-tier collegiate football programs, but with every new program that selects our team, my excitement grows exponentially,” said Eric Daliere, President – Tarkett North America & Tarkett Sports. “Thank you, Oklahoma State University, for your trust. We’re proud to be your surface of choice - Go Cowboys!

FieldTurf Genius, the world’s first and only smart field technology, will also be installed at Boone Pickens Stadium and the Cowboys’ practice field. FieldTurf Genius uses computer vision, deep learning algorithms, and sensor fusion to monitor the field, record activity, and deliver advanced analytics back to the program. FieldTurf Genius is designed to help maximize the longevity, playability, and safety of the sports field.

Vertex CORE is designed using FieldTurf’s heavyweight 3-layer infill technology, which has showcased a significantly lower incidence of injuries per research by Michael C. Meyers, a Professor in the Department of Sport Science and Physical Education at Idaho State University.

The project was completed with Mammoth Sports Construction, an official FieldTurf partner. The new surface will take center stage when the Cowboys host Central Michigan University on September 1st.

"Boone Pickens Stadium is legendary. We are honored to install FieldTurf’s quality product for a historic program that means so much to fans in Oklahoma and all over the country," said Joe Kerr, Vice President, Mammoth Sports Construction.

FieldTurf Expert on the project, Chris Patton, is a proud former Oklahoma State University alumni & letter winner, competing in 1983 and 1984 at tackle.

FieldTurf is a leading choice amongst football programs in the Big 12 Conference, with 6 of 10 playing on FieldTurf systems – Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas Tech, and West Virginia.

Oklahoma State University joins an impressive group of programs to trust FieldTurf in 2022 to replace or install a new artificial turf field. Arizona, Illinois, Kansas State, Nebraska, Utah State, and Wisconsin, to name a few, have all selected FieldTurf this year for their sports infrastructure construction project.
