CORAL GABLES, FL. (June 10, 2014) – Miami Hurricane Athletics and FieldTurf jointly announced today that the playing surface on two of the Greentree Practice Fields received a state-of-the-art upgrade to FieldTurf Classic HD.
“We feel as though this upgrade to FieldTurf for our facility sends a positive message to our athletes that we want them to play on the highest performing surfaces, so they can perform at their best,” said University of Miami Senior Associate Athletic Director Timothy Wise. “We did a lot of research into what surface would be best for us and this is the one.”
“Miami is certainly a renowned college football program and everyone at FieldTurf is proud about this decision,” said FieldTurf President Eric Daliere. “We are excited to give the players, coach Golden, and the Miami administration a playing surface that will cater to their need for a high performance and long lasting surface.”
The FieldTurf system is complete with a patented infill mix supported by years of independent testing and player safety benefits. In the last five NFL Players Playing Surfaces Opinion Surveys, a FieldTurf surface has ranked as the best artificial surface in the league. The Classic HD fiber as part of the system that will be installed at Hecht, has been designed to represent a significant advancement in fiber durability and performance.
The Greentree Practice Fields are located behind the new $15 million Schwartz Center for Athletic Excellence, which is situated on the north side of the Isadore Hecht Athletic Center. The Schwartz Center, which opened in August 2013, houses the DiMare Gallery of Champions, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Football Locker Room, academic center and the expansion of the existing Isadore Hecht Athletic Center.
