FIELDTURF AND FIFA LEAVE THEIR LEGACY IN BRAZIL

Belem, Brazil (July 17th, 2014) – In an effort to ensure that the legacy of the 2014 World Cup lives on in Brazil, FIFA has installed 3 FieldTurf fields at CEJU (Youth Sports Center), dedicated to grassroots and women’s football in the local area. The FIFA Secretary General Jérôme Valcke attended the opening ceremony of the reformed CEJU in Belem, Brazil.

FieldTurf and FIFA have closely worked together to kick off this project and leave not only a field behind but a legacy that will be known across the region. Children from CEJU will use these fields to play and train on a safe surface.

This is the first project part of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Legacy Fund. The project will be in the capital city of Para state where the project will improve football infrastructures. The range of this project goes past infrastructure, where efforts to the growth of grassroots and women’s football, as well as public health, preventative healthcare, and social programs for underprivileged communities. With the installations still underway, children from the youth center have already started to play on one of the pitches after the ceremony had completed.
