MAC Announces Partnership With FieldTurf

FIELDTURF NAMED AS THE MAC’S PREFERRED FIELD BUILDER IN PARTNERSHIP FACILITATED BY MAC IMG SPORTS MARKETING

DETROIT, Mich. – FieldTurf, the company that invented and perfected long-pile, infilled artificial turf, and the Mid-American Conference (MAC) have entered into a partnership to make FieldTurf the Conference’s Preferred Field Builder. Headquartered in Montreal, Quebec with their primary manufacturing facility located in Calhoun, Georgia, FieldTurf gained rapid popularity in the late 1990s with a design intended to more accurately replicate real grass.

“We are proud to associate ourselves with such a great institution” said Eric Daliere, FieldTurf’s President. “This newly formed partnership will undoubtedly aid our longstanding commitment toward providing the safest and highest quality fields for organizations at every level. We look forward to working with the Mid-American Conference to help Change the Game.”

“We are pleased to welcome FieldTurf as another proud partner with the Mid-American Conference,” said Dr. Jon Steinbrecher, Mid-American Conference Commissioner. “This partnership provides another opportunity for our programs to be involved with an industry leader in field and facility performance.”

MAC institutions, including Miami University and Western Michigan University, currently play on FieldTurf fields. Through the partnership, FieldTurf will have opportunities to build relationships within the conference at MAC championships and annual meetings.

The agreement was facilitated by MAC IMG Sports Marketing, the multimedia rights partner of the Mid-American Conference.

About FieldTurf: FieldTurf is the company that invented and perfected long-pile, infilled artificial turf. The company that changed the industry. FieldTurf was developed and engineered for athletes, by athletes. The company that changed the way athletes view “artificial turf”. Before FieldTurf, natural grass was considered by many to be the best solution for sports fields around the world – even though it required constant maintenance and could not withstand heavy use. FieldTurf’s inventors were not trying to create a better artificial solution, they were trying to replicate natural grass.

About the Mid-American Conference (MAC): Founded in 1946, the Mid-American Conference is an NCAA Division I, 12 full-member conference that sponsors 23 championships and is one of ten members of the Football Bowl Sub-division (FBS). With total enrollment of nearly 300,000 students, the league represents institutions of higher learning in five states - Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, New York, and Ohio. The conference office is based in Cleveland, Ohio.
