GEORGIA STATE ERASES TURNER FIELD AND WELCOMES LATEST IN FIELDTURF TECHNOLOGY

Georgia State Stadium, the new home of the Georgia State University Panthers and former ballpark of Major League Baseball’s Atlanta Braves, will debut with the newest, most advanced monofilament FieldTurf surface available.

A high-performance synthetic turf system is currently being installed at Georgia State Stadium, formerly Turner Field. Planned to debut on Aug. 31st when the Georgia State University Panthers host Tennessee State University. The new surface features FieldTurf’s latest monofilament technology. Construction is set to be complete in mid- July.

As the new home of GSU’s football program, Georgia State Stadium will feature FieldTurf’s newest premium system, featuring the industry’s highest-performing monofilament fiber that makes the surface player-friendly, resilient and durable. Along with the most innovative fiber technology in the industry, this state-of-the-art turf system features FieldTurf’s proprietary heavy infill system, which is critical to performance and playability. The result is a surface that plays soft, feels real, looks great and hangs tough.

“We are excited to be using the latest FieldTurf technology in Georgia State Stadium,” said Doug Justice, Senior Associate Athletic Director for Georgia State. “Our goal was to provide the highest quality surface for our student-athletes from day one, when we open our new stadium. We are pleased to take advantage of the latest innovation from FieldTurf.”

Georgia State Stadium will be a multi-purpose facility, providing space for academic departments, campus events and convocations, year-round hospitality space for small gatherings and functions, administrative space and additional athletics facilities, including new football offices and training space.
