University of Minnesota Continues Partnership with FieldTurf for Athlete’s Village

Minnesota Gopher Athletics announced that FieldTurf will install their Classic HD turf system at Minnesota’s 100,000 sq ft, state-of-the-art indoor practice facility providing year-round training and endless opportunities for training excellence.

"We are excited to be working with FieldTurf again on our new Athlete's Village project at Minnesota”, says Scott Ellison, Associate Athletic Director at the University of Minnesota. “We have enjoyed our previous relationship with them and think the playing surface at TCF Bank Stadium is one of the best in the nation, as it can withstand any weather condition and can be used for multiple events. We look forward to similar results when the Athletes Village, which is sure to be one of the most elite facilities in the nation, is completed."

“Minnesota is certainly a renowned college football program and everyone at FieldTurf is proud about this decision,” said FieldTurf President Eric Daliere. “We are excited to give the players, coaches, and the Minnesota administration a playing surface that will cater to their need for a high performance and long lasting surface.”

FieldTurf’s Classic HD slit-film artificial turf fiber combines the durability of slit-film yarns with an upgraded production process to deliver the perfect combination of durability and softness. In addition to the Gophers, other top NCAA programs playing on FieldTurf include Illinois, Illinois State, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, West Virginia, Nebraska, Washington, Texas, Texas Tech, Iowa, Rutgers, Syracuse, Cincinnati and Louisville.

The 340,000 square foot Athlete’s Village is the newest landmark for the University of Minnesota focusing on the student athlete’s welfare and development. The village consists of the Land O’Lakes Center for Excellence, the Football Performance Center, Indoor Practice Facility and the Basketball Development Center. The project is set to be complete in January 2018.
