A New Season Begins with FieldTurf Remaining the Leading Choice in the NFL
The 2025 NFL season begins this week with four games on FieldTurf artificial turf. Over the course of the season, eight teams across the league using our surfacing solutions will combine to host more than 60 games on FieldTurf. With those numbers, we’re incredibly proud to add another chapter to our history as the leading choice in the NFL.
For FieldTurf to achieve and maintain this status, our systems have continued to lead through innovation that sets new standards for performance, safety, and durability. Engineered for performance and traction, FieldTurf fields provide a state-of-the-art athlete experience, highlighted by heavyweight infill systems that deliver the lowest injury incidence rate. These findings are based on research by Michael C. Meyers, a Professor in the Department of Sport Science and Physical Education at Idaho State University.
The effectiveness of FieldTurf high-performance systems is supported by recent research from the Center for Applied Biomechanics at the University of Virginia, which concluded that they deliver the closest initial release traction value to Kentucky bluegrass. In the study, FieldTurf’s high-performance systems delivered a release traction value of 1.86, virtually mirroring Kentucky bluegrass (1.81).
