Out With The Old, In With The Blue

When Alden High School opted to convert their natural grass field to FieldTurf, they opted to do so with a bold statement. Instead of a green field design, the school chose “blue” to showcase their program’s colors. After receiving authorization from Boise State University, who has a trademark for using the color blue on a synthetic surface, district officials turned to FieldTurf to help bring their dream field to life.

“The design and construction of Alden Sports Park has been the pride of our community since the very first conversation two years ago. We are thrilled with the incredible work FieldTurf has done to turn our dream field into reality. We look forward to the joy it will bring athletes and spectators from Alden and around Western New York for years to come!” said Adam Stoltman – Superintendent, Alden Central School District

Officials selected FieldTurf’s Vertex Prime system, which is comprised of specially designed slit-film fibers and high performance ridged monofilament fibers. The fibrillation process of the slit-film component allows for proper infill encapsulation while the monofilament fibers facilitate grass-like ball roll. Both fibers are tufted together in the same stitch for a superior aesthetic appearance.

Vertex Prime is the trusted surface of 215 installations, highlighted by the universities of Wyoming and Utah.

The Bulldogs officially opened the field to #DefendTheBlue when they defeated the Royalton-Hartland Rams on September 20th.
