Five Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Miss This Year’s MLS All-Star Game

So here are our 5 reasons to stop watching America’s Got Talent and turn your attention to the MLS All-Star game at 9:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2:

1 Team USA players reunite

Team USA kept us at the edge of our seats during the 2014 World Cup tournament. Their surprising success led them to a round-of-16 exit against a strong Belgium team.

The MLS All-Star team will include will seven feature players from the 2014 World Cup team. The MLS All-Star team includes:

  • Clint Dempsey of the Seattle Sounders
  • Kyle Beckerman and Nick Rimando of Real Salt Lake
  • Graham Zusi and Matt Besler of Sporting Kansas City
  • DeAndre Yedlin and and Michael Bradley of Toronto FC

2 Six German World Cup champions are on FC Bayern Munich

Their World Cup domination was incredible to watch as Germany scored goal after goal winning matched with ease. After taking the host country out of the tournament, Germany went on to win the World Cup against Argentina.

The six World Cup champions to watch are:

  • Jerome Boateng
  • Thomas Müller
  • Mario Götze

3 Game is hosted at the beautiful Providence Park

Formerly named Jeld-Wen Field, Providence Park is the home of the MLS club, Portland Timbers. Sporting the innovative FieldTurf Revolution turf system, the FIFA 2-Star Certified field is a perfect surface for these two power house teams. The Portland State Vikings football team also calls Providence Park home. The venue also hosts a variety of sporting and non-sporting events, including various league championships.

4 Going to be an excellent match

All-Star games can’t get out of hand right? Wrong. We’ve seen this a thousand times by now, defenses not playing as tight because the most exciting part of a sport is scoring! The World Cup was filled with jaw dropping goals and this game shouldn’t disappoint. Having all this talent on the pitch will only result in a thrilling game. Not to mention that Team USA only lost 1-0 to Team Germany in the World Cup group stage. Can the MLS All-Team be fired up to level the score? We’ll soon find out!

The MLS has continuously been attracting foreign players and adding excitement to the league and the different clubs around the country. Additions like Marco Di Vaio of Montreal Impact, Michael Bradley of Toronto FC, Jermain Defoe of Toronto FC, Landon Donovan of L.A. Galaxy, and Thierry Henry of New York Red Bulls have all made significant improvement to their teams and the whole league.

5 Thierry Henry’s Last All-Star Game?

There is a possibility of Thierry Henry retiring after this season because he is on his last year of his contract. This all means that this could be the last time we see him competing in the MLS All-Star game.

Whether he retires or not, the 36-year-old French international soccer star will definitely play his best to try to beat one of the most talented soccer clubs in the world.
