Gillette Stadium's New FieldTurf Surface Achieves FIFA 2-Star Certification

FOXBOROUGH, MA (July 7, 2014) – Gillette Stadium's new FieldTurf surface has earned FIFA 2-Star recommended status. The home of the Revolution and the Patriots is no stranger to top level FIFA certification as the previous FieldTurf surface achieved FIFA 2-Star status three consecutive times. FieldTurf’s Revolution turf system and VersaTile drainage and shock underlayment was installed earlier this year for its unparalleled player safety and durability.

“We are proud to continue to provide our players with the highest quality surfaces available with the highest level of certifications,” said Jim Nolan, Senior Vice President of Finance, Administration and Operations “FieldTurf has been a good partner for us in order to help us set our venue apart for national and international sporting events.”

“We are proud to see that Gillette Stadium’s surface continues to receive the highest level of certification from FIFA and the praise of the athletes using the surface,” said FieldTurf President Eric Daliere.

The FIFA Recommended 2-Star designation is the highest synthetic turf rating from FIFA and is issued after a battery of tests are performed by a FIFA approved testing agent. FIFA final round competitions and top UEFA competitions have the FIFA Recommended 2-Star in their respective competition regulations.

In addition to being the home of the New England Patriots (NFL) and the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer (MLS), Gillette hosts a variety of other special events, including concerts and NCAA championships. The FieldTurf system is complete with a patented infill mix supported by years of independent testing and player safety benefits. In the last five NFL Players Playing Surfaces Opinion Surveys, a FieldTurf surface has ranked as the best artificial surface in the league.
