Super Bowl LI: Thank you Patriots, Thank you Falcons

The FieldTurf team would like to congratulate the New England Patriots, who rallied from a 28-3 deficit to beat the Atlanta Falcons in overtime, 34-28, in Super Bowl LI — in a game that will go down in history as one of the all-time greatest.

Quarterback Tom Brady, appearing in more Super Bowls than any other NFL player, passed for a record 466 yards as he led the Patriots to the biggest comeback win in Super Bowl history.

The Patriots’ relationship with FieldTurf dates back 11 years, when the team installed the turf at its indoor practice facility. Two years later, the Patriots installed FieldTurf at Gillette Stadium, replacing it in 2010 and 2014. The venue’s current surface, FieldTurf Revolution 360, has been in place since 2016.

We would also like to congratulate the Atlanta Falcons on a remarkable season and valiant effort in last night’s game.

The Falcons installed FieldTurf in the Georgia Dome in 2000 and then replaced that original surface with FieldTurf Classic in 2011. The Falcons opted to keep a good thing going with FieldTurf’s Revolution 360, which will be installed in the new $1.5 billion Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Scheduled to open this July as the team’s new home, the facility also will host Super Bowl LIII in 2019.

It was a great honor to have two loyal FieldTurf teams in this year’s Super Bowl.
